Trevor,

Background looks OK (there are some weird saturation artifacts), but, there's no detail in the middle of the flower.

I would strongly advise exposing correctly in camera and then do your minor edits in Photoshop afterwards.

HDR doesn't always work.

Humayun

Hi Trev

I'm not sure this is the sort of image which really benefits from the HDR treatment. It doesn't appear to have brought a great deal to the shot in terms of dynamic range.

It's also oversaturated....but it's a tricky thing, the ol' HDR....

Keep at it, mate.

I presume this was taken with a Canon? Canon sensors have long been known for oversaturing Reds in some instances (where strong colour is present). Nikons do the same thing but with Greens from memory. HDR shot is too strong, the original is better, but still too saturated for my personal liking. Nice flower.

mmm, still appears to saturated to my eyes. I'm running on a calibrated high quality monitor though, perhaps it shows up more readily on my setup?

Me too, Dave.

Although it's a big improvement on the original.

Agreed. It's not a bad shot at all, just appears overly saturated in the Reds...

Now that looks better to my eyes! I had a crack at this as well, but I've got this nasty magenta tint that I wasn't able to get rid of (probably cos I was trying to balance the colour with a small sized image I suspect).

Good effort Trevor!
