Amazing LX200 at f4.5/QHY9 pics

With a long image train, and a Celestron 0.63f FR, hes got it from f10 to f4.5 , He done an amazing job with rig he set up.

yeah, its funny, lately we all struggle with and bang on about RCs, mounts, KAF8300 well depths etc (incl me), and this character chirns out amazing stuff with a stock vanilla SCT on a meade mount and a QHY9. Have a close look at his images, they are outstanding.

He does some very tricky processing too, check his "Tone Mapping" method, removing stars, extreme stretching/combining, and star reinsertion with fairly ordinary subs. Goes to show processing skills are more than half the final result.

Does some cool 3D processing too.

Yes, I noticed that too with that image train. I attempted the same thing, with bad results, very interesting indeed.

Im supprised the f6.3 FR works at at where he put it, far from the cam, perhaps thats the trick. Youd think the light cone from the FR wouldnt come even near the OAGer pick off, im gunna have to try this.

He does some astounding work...did you see the Pelican shot. Wow.

I couldn't figure out how he could get f4.65 out of that setup. I think he is either cropping quite a bit or he is running at a slower focal ratio than he thinks.

I have been talking to J-P for quite some time on the QHY forums.. It was his work, and his work alone that made me decide that the KAF-8300 sensor was what I wanted... He was the first person to get an APOD with a QHY8 camera, with his HST pallete 3 panel mosaic (at 300mm F/2.8) of the Cygnus region, he's also been lucky enough to snag 2 more APOD's using his fork mounted SCT with the QHY9...

His narrowband processing technique is actually rather involved, however after conversing with him about it, I've realised that although its involved, it simply works.. He gave me some raw data to try it out with, and its not as hard as it looks... despite my attempt not being anywhere near as good as his, it was easy to see that with some practise it would be a VERY powerful tool for narrowband imaging...
