NGC253 From Snake Valley

NGC 253 taken at Snake Valley Astro Camp. A combine of 10 X 5 minute exposures captured with QHY8 OSC, Tak FSQ106ED on G11 mount.

I had a major problem with a huge gradient across this image but it now looks a bit better. It is small when taken with the above equipment so I have posted a crop as well. The stars are a little over saturated but oh well.

lovely image Doug. Do yourself a favour - download pixinsight - the trial version (current) and try the Dynamic background extraction function (DBE) there are a few other functions as well.

Nicely done Doug !
I'm going to look into this PixInSight that Houghy keeps sprooking, sounds cool.

Do you have Gradient Xtreminator, that helps with gradients too.

Even though 253 is small with this setup, I kind of like the image scale, to see it floating out there.

Looks really good to me Doug. Stars are perfect and focus perfect and widerfield shots seem to give everything a home to me.

Very nice Doug plenty of detail for 5 minute exposures having a dark site to capture sure makes the difference on required exposure time to capture optimum SNR as you haven't lost any detail in the cropped version

Both pictures look good Doug
It could be my monitor or my eyes, but the back ground looks a tiny bit hanging to the green side (as i said it could be my eyes).

Thanks Andrew, I have a copy but sometimes find it just better to mask and average blur the background does a better job overall.

I really like the detail and the way it just sort of hangs there!
Nice image Doug. I really can't see the gradient on my Mac, all looks good.

There is good detail in the galaxy. The starts are pin point (as most of your work is!)

Very very nice on the eye Doug. Nice tight detail. You've got to be happy with that.
