Align but not combine

can anybody help me with a program that will align but not combine the images as im starting to do layered images to reduce core burnouts :S. but only problem is that photoshop doesn''t do this well and DSS combines the images and does not leave them as seperate images. hope somebody can help.

Are you able to load up each image in Photoshop as a layer and then adjust the transparency? I know I can do this in The Gimp so I assume something like that would be viable in Photoshop. Is that the kind of thing you are after?

I've not played with any astro images so I might be waaaaay off.

Hi Brendan,
I'm pretty sure dss has a check box to create interim files that are aligned.

I use PPMCentre, great for non tracking scopes to align images before I use Registax. Hope that is what you mean, young in the AP game.

IMHO, I've tried them all. Nothing aligns like registar. Give it a go and compare.
