I'm sorry everyone....

Apologies in advance for continuing the foul weather in Sydney, I just made a payment for an ED80 Pro. Scope will despatch tomorrow so the bad weather is almost guaranteed until well into next week

Congratulations on the purchase Ben. I wouldn't be too worried about the cloud, it has been a constant thorn in my side for so long I care not to remember.

I'm assuming you are imaging with your ED80. Do you have an extension (50mm long would do it) for it to bring your camera in to focus, if you are using a DSLR? If not you may want to get on to your vendor and get them to throw one in for you otherwise you will end up imaging through a diagonal and while it is convenient and better than laying on the ground when pointing at zenith it is less than ideal in the long run.

Enjoy your scope, they are a ripper way to get into it and living out at Wilton you should have some pretty good sky out there for it.

Cheers mate

I have a t-adaptor for my Canon 450D, it came with a "tube" which connects to the camera end and then into the focuser, is that the tube that you mentioned?

Wilton is pretty good for sky conditions, although there are a couple of streetlights which need some sorting out!!

Hi again Ben

You are on the right path but the one you are after is in the photo below, courtesy of Bintel's website ($39 is the price and you will find it on page 1 of their telescope accessories). It goes in to the rear of your ED80 and then the barrel off the camera goes in to that. I certainly needed it when I used my ED80 with both a 400D and a 20D.

I should have added that depending on where you bought it they should be able to tell you whether you will need it. I don't know if the focussers have been changed in the ED80's since I got mine 2 years ago.

A great big T-storm just passed by in my area heading north east.

I think it's ED80 hunting.

Congrats on your new scope also.
