NGC 4945 " when at first you don't succeed ......"

We have had the data for this image since May

The galaxy itself seemed to be very dim and dark and I tried three or four times to process it but I just couldn't extract much from our data for some reason. So I just left it unprocessed.

Last week was cold rainy weather so I thought I would give it one more try.

Well I don't know what happened. Maybe all my cogs and wheels were switched on and turning in the old brain but I managed to extract the detail that had eluded me previously.

So the old saying " when at first you don't succeed try try again.
I did and it worked for me

So here it is after waiting for 5 months to be processed.

Details

Celestron C9.25 using 6.3 FR
EQ6 Pro Mount
Canon 40D DSLR unmodded

Image is full frame at 1485fl - 2.4hrs total exposure

Sometimes the world turns in funny ways .. It would be great if all the rainy days could be utilized to such a degree. GREAT image !!!! and I agree with Darren, you have an amount of data there.

Hi Barb & Dave

The “A Team” does it again! After reading your post, I began to wonder just what I would find when I ‘clicked’ the http link and blow me down with a feather; I was astonished by the quality of the image. Really nice work, the both of you, it is truly a lovely image.

Cheers

Dennis

Hi Barb and David, as has been said " worth the wait" This is a hard one to extract the data from. I have done it a few times and even with several hours of reasonable data it was very hard. This looks good the colour is way better than I have been able to achieve even with lots of repro's.
Nice work, well done.

Thank you for the encouraging comments Dennis and Doug.

I'm glad we waited to get it just right. Sometimes in processing some things just don't seem to jell so you just have to have patience and keep trying until you're happy
