M31

After the thread I started called Are rental scopes cheating? and getting a range of opinions () I thought I would present an image I took with rental equipment.

This image is the result of six five minutes frames in each of RGB on a GRAS FSQ106. I stacked and colour combined the frames in CCDStack and did some further processing in PS CS2. I can't remember exactly what I did in PS as I just tend to fiddle until it looks good. I remember doing curves, increasing saturation, adjust shadow/highlights and adjusting the colour balance. I then did some masking and sharpened M31 and reduced noise in the background with Noise Ninja.

That's a nice M31 Rob. Did a pretty good job with the core. I'm pretty sure even more details can be stretched out of the arm structure etc though.
