Hi Malcom,

Yes, this was unguided. Alignment is still key, according to my GOTO, I was 5 mins off in Dec and 40 mins off in RA. Going to try for better accuracy next time, rather than my usual 3 mins of alignment.

Trevor,

that is very nice.

Is that image taken with the 1000D piggy backed on the etx125?

Care to tell us what settings you used? I'm a total novice so please include all relevant settings - if you have time

Cheers

Edit - jumped in too early Trevor. I read in your widefield lagoon post that you do strap the 1000d to the etx125. Do you use it in polar mode or alt-az? And is it still mounted on the etx tripod (884 I think !) ? And what rings do you use/where from?

Hi Paul,

The scope is mounted in polar mode, I dont use the 884 as its wedge didnt give me any RA adjustment. My father Barry Gerdes made a custom wedge that I have mounted on and EQ3-4 tripod, see this thread. http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...ad.php?t=45795 . The camera is held on via a custom "strap" that wraps around the OTA with a platform that has a normal tripod screw.

I control the camera with the standard EOS utility via a USB cable, focus through liveview on my PC, then revert to manual focus.
