M8 HaHaRGB with OSC camera (Experiment)

A little experiment to combine 10 X 10 minute Ha images as firstly a Luminance channel and secondly the same image debayered to colour as a colour overlay over the top of 5 X 10 minute RGB images captured with QHY8 OSC Cooled CCD.

Alignment proved to be the hardest task to overcome with very few bright stars in the Ha images. Alignment was completed manually using IP3 and the 3 images were combined in PS CS3.

I have included the Ha image but on close inspection I notice a little missalignment of the visible stars in this image. The single frames show no trailling at all.

I hope you like the image, not sure about it myself.

The Ha is great!. The coloured version shows the detail surrounding the Nebula very nicely (the colour is vibrant though?).

Not 100% sure of the final product but it does show some promise.

The pukey colour is my main concern at this stage along with the overall saturation of the colour. Might give it another repro tonight as the clouds are in think and solid.

I have had a couple ofalignment problems using IP3 lately and might need to look at another program to register and align my images. Not sure which yet.

good crack of the whip doug, re your alignment issues, have you tried DSS, it has stacked everything that i have thown at it with good alignment. even those shots that area little bit tricker to stack. if you want a hand with it just yell over.

Great shot Doug, the monochrome Ha image looks really good. The colour image looks good too, but I agree that it looks a little fluoro, but then what do I know - I keep getting told that I don't saturate the colours enough !

Thanks Brendan, I have used DSS but in this case need something which is a little more sophisticated for alignment only and not for stacking images. Torn between CCD Stack and Registar.

Thanks David, I think the colour deserves binning and just keep the Ha. Maybe a repro in the making.
