Exclamation WO Digital Focuser

I just noticed the picture on the William Optics Yahoo! group has recently changed to show a back-illuminated digital readout of the focuser position.

http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/William-Optics/

That could be nice.

I know there's aftermarket alteratives, and if you have a unit such as a RoboFocus installed then once configured it's largely irrelevant what position the focuser is at, but, for the simple field scope without motor focuser and without 3rd party parts, I think they could have something quite useful here. Looks neat too.

Attached a pic in case the one at the site changes.

I haven't found any information about it on WO's .com site.

Roger.

Interesting, looks like they're just using the innards from a Digital Caliper. Could probably hack something similar with a cheap caliper.

One would have thought it would have a red illuminated back light.
Great idea though.
