Lagoon/Triffid and Andromeda from Astrofest

Hi all,

It has taken a few weeks but I have finally caught up on sleep, missed work etc and have finally had time to play with some of the images from Duckadang - what a great time, learnt heaps.

The Lagoon/Triffid combo was taken on the first night, 15 x 7min subs. I almost didn't send in the Andromeda shot after seeing the Image of the week - mine was taken over 2 nights on the first weekend and is 6 x 8min subs.

Both images are through an ED80 using a Canon 1000D, processed using dss and cs3.

Fairly happy with Lagoon/Triffid, may have pushed the colours a bit too much. I think I need to do more work on Andromeda.

Any suggestions?

Adam, your m31 is heaps better than the one I captured. As soon as I saw mine I deleted it.
You're still in one piece so I assume all went well on the home front?

the lagoon shot is a beauty, fine work. the M31 is just needing more data, i see you had 15 exp vs 6 exp respectively, it does make the difference getting that extra data, butyouve done what you can with what youve got.

cheers clive

Thanks Jeanette, nearly fell apart on the Wednesday at school with no sleep for the night. Got home and the next day the wife left me in charge of the kids and went to Sydney for a cousins wedding for 6 days, no probs, no money.

Thanks Clive,
I had 3 more shots but when I looked at them I realised that there was a very red tinge and one had a telltale red streak about the same position that a red LED headlight would be if some-one had walked in front of the scope while I was imaging. Ah well, you get that at a big meet like Astrofest, eh Houghy.

Thanks Troy and Javier for the nice comments. After seeing so many nice shots on IceInSpace I sometimes feel that my efforts are a bit poor, maybe I'm setting my goals a bit too high.

Don't feel that way Adam (easy to say). If you don't post your images,
how else can we see how they're improving? It's a big learning curve.

Fair comment Jeanette, I've got more Duckadang shots to process and will be posting them soonish. I mentioned to the family about going "camping" (sort of) at a place called Barambah. My wife still thinks I'm joking - we'll see.

Adam,

Both great images. Don't you just love the way the ED80 fits M8, M20 and M21 in one nice field of view. Great stuff.

Regards,
Humayun

Thanks Humayun,

The ED80 is a great little scope and very forgiving, love it.

Nice images Adam. Andrmeda could do with quite a bit more data but the M8/M20 is the pick of the bunch for sure. Nice layout and good amount of detail.

Well done.
