It actually is. The pier breaks down into 4 pieces. The head packs into one case, as does the 8" OTA. Each piece is quite managable.

No...still being changed...upgrading to a F355 clutch, the bits are still in transit

I wouldve thought the standard G11 field tripod would be ample?. (It was rock solid with a 12" SCT on it)

Nice setup, is that a custom made pier? I like the design of this pier. The G-11 tripod is great and can hold a significan amount of weight but the legs sometimes get in your way.

Definitely says something about the GSO 8" RC if you're ditching the FSQ as your road scope for the RC! Or is that just personal focal length preference more than anything else?
Looking forward to seeing some images from the setup!

It would be a mistake to assume I'm ditching the FSQ!
The RC offers a very comfortable 1600mm, and is light enough to use a side by side plate.
All I need now is a camera!

No. Commercially available...but you might have to wait until the next edition of AS&T on where to obtain the same
