Mike, if you see the 12 Apostles in nice weather it isn't as dramatic. Bad weather churns the sea up and the waves crash all around the formations and hit the cliff face very hard. Pretty exciting in a storm! You can witness the fury that sank all those ships around that area!! (the whole area is called 'the Shipwreck Coast')

The Blowhole should be a real treat in this weather!
In calm weather it doesn't even blow.

And that's true Ken, maybe I can even witness another apostle crumble into the sea

The thing is, i'll be staying at Robin's house at Warnambool for 2 nights, looking at all of his fabulous photography of the coast, and then i'll be trying to emulate the same pictures using my trusty digicam.. I'm sure i'll be disappointed in comparison

At Port Cambell near the Apostles.

It is a Underground cave formation. The ocean rushes into the cave underground and the pressure blows the sea up through a giant hole in the ground!!!! Just like a Whales spout but HUGE!

here's a link to a pic of it.

Mike's on his way to Albury/Wodonga.

That's why we've had 51mm of rain in the last 36hrs.

Ken's right, if you see the 12 Apostles in bad weather it's much more dramatic, gives a true perspective on what the poor souls who perished in shipwrecks went through. You won't miss anything it's all signposted...

Thumbs up

Don't think there ever was 12, CBWH, but I think they're down to 7 or 8 now, ving. L.
Enjoy the views Mike. Never know when you'll get down that way again. Nice part of our country. Hope the weather clears. L.
