First light Swan - Modded 350D

This is a first light image taken last Saturday, sky conditions really good.
Thought I give the newly Modded 350D a hit.

Image was taken with a now Modded Canon 350D (Only filter removed thanks to Eric Lo) using an Orion DSF at prime focus attached to a Saxon ED80.
Piggybacked on a polar mounted 10" LX200GPS.
Autoguided with a Meade Deep Sky Imager through the LX200GPS.

The composition is a stack of 10 x 1min at 800iso using ICNR.
The image is cropped slightly to remove coma.
Stacked using Deep Sky Stacker and processed using Photoshop CS3.

I do plan on taking more images at lower ISO's when I settle down a bit using this camera.

Nice pinpoint stars there (except for the top left corner)....good for a first light shot

Colours just need a little bit more zing, but that'll come later

Good first light with the now modded 350D Paul, especially for short exposures. Have you looked at imaging through the LX200 and guiding with the ED80, would be interested in your thoughts.

Great first light. Not sure about using lower ISO's, 800 seems about ideal. Too low and you just take longer to get the same thing.
in summer you may want ISO1600 when the camera is running hotter and you may end up with a better signal to noise ratio.

Also if you can it is better to run a DSLR off a power supply rather than its internal battery which heats up as the long exposure goes along.

The stars are always good in the centre, I think I may need a field flattener, I think the light cone from the ED80 is slightly bigger than the Canon Cmos? But thanks for your input.

That is in my thoughts, I am working towards it...my goal.

Thanks, only one minutes exposures, this camera is sensitive but I'm building up to more.

Thanks Greg, you are right, I will stick with the 800ISO and go longer, it was the first time out and wasn't sure how far I can push it. I am using the DSLR power supply and it does make a difference.
