Ngc300

This was taken on Friday night during the super seeing.

My rig isn't ideal for galaxy imaging as it is a bit short focal length. I have an adapter I am working on to extend the focal length but it isn't
ready just yet.

I was surprised however at how well the crop stood up. The U16M is a very nice camera at 17 megapixels and with a coldish night it ran at
-30C.

Tak BRC250, Apogee U16M, Baader filters.

LRGB 100 30 30 30.

Very nice indeed Greg! One of the best and brightest NGC300 images I've seen...

Well done.. (Attack it with the TEC180FL!!)

Hello Greg,

I would have expected NGC 300 to have a more grainy appearance.
Did you smooth out the galaxy?

Steven

Nicely done, Greg....there's nothing wrong with the image scale of the first image. They're both good images

Yes it would be interesting to do a direct comparison shot with the TEC
and the BRC. Although I am scared they may be too similar and hard to
justify 2 great scopes that do much the same thing!

Thanks Marc. I was surprised as this isn't really a galaxy setup.

I did some selective sharpening and also some Noise Ninja which smooths a bit but no direct smoothing. It is a crop from a widefield image and as always more exposure would have helped although not sure graininess may have occurred but probably too widefield.

Very nice result Greg, you must have been pleased with the amount of detail captured in this image. Good to have a night of good seeing.
Well done.

I was ecstatic just to get a clear night! The great seeing was a nice bonus.

Greg.
