NGC 7213 Seyfert Galaxy in Grus

Hi,

Just in after a session doing PEC training on the homemade GEM.
NGC 7213 is a Seyfert Galaxy which possibly has a supermassive black
hole at it's core.
I couldn't get over how bright the nucleus of this was on the live
preview.
Note the diffraction spike from nearby Alpha Grus (off frame top right).

Some details of the PEC session here on the homemade wormgear thread.

Gee Steve, that is a very impressive result indeed. I really admire your skills and dedication in building your own mount and drive.

Cheers

Thanks guys,

the imaging is hardly cutting edge stuff....and as for the mechanical
aspects of the homemade GEM and worm hobbing..
something about standing on the shoulders of giants comes to mind

regards,
Steve

being as you are prowling around grus, its full of galaxys, some quite bigger than this one,
IC5267 SO-a 5.7 x 4 arc min mag 11.35
NGC 7424 SBc 7.5 x 5.7 mag 11.53
IC 5201 SBc 7.16 x3.14 mag 11.94
NGC 7582 SBab 5.42 x 2.36 mag 11.37.... part of a common triplet you might get a couple in your FOV

i was going to try some in grus myself tonight ( none of these, theres a chain further to the lower left) but the seeing is woefull, so im here on IIS

happy hunting.

Thanks for that Clive, Ive kept your list for another night.
7213 just happened to be the nearest one to a bright star
(alpha) so I drove to it first.
I saw a few others nearby while using Cartes though.
The intended test target that night was going to be another
try of the Fornax barred spiral but I went to bed early.
