*REPRO ADDED* Very bright ISS pass over Brisbane, 9Aug09

Hi all,

We had a magnitude -3.4 ISS pass at about 6:20 pm yesterday, passing through Sagittarius. Very bright! I took a series of 10 second exposures, and then stacked them using DSS (first time I've used DSS, and I'm impressed with what this little program can do!). Anyway, here's the result. Probably my best capture of the ISS to date . Unfortunately there was a bit of thin cloud around which resulted in a bit of glow in the left hand side of the image.

I have a nice animation as well, but I'm stuck at home with a cold and only have dial-up, so I'll hopefully post it tomorrow.

Thanks for looking!

Cheers,
Stephen

Note: There's an improved version posted at the end of this thread!

RE ISS in tea pot

AAHH,yes,i thought of you Stephen, when i saw it fly over,it was outstanding here in dark country skies.

We where outside in the paddock cooking pizzas in a camp oven, and the kids a had friends over,so it was a bonus to see it,

I had no idea it was going to go over,i simply havent had time to look
at heavens above.it was really nice to just relax and look at it,and nor worry about camera gear and photos.

Must be the brightest pass i have ever seen,

fine capture Stephen.

regards Chris

It sure was a bright pass, wasn't it Chris!

Reprocessed version attached

Here's a reprocessed version for anyone who's interested. When I did the original version I didn't realize that DSS could handle Pentax RAW format, so I stacked jpgs instead. For this repro I used RAW files and the result is much better I think.

Thanks for looking.

Cheers,
Stephen
