See in the Wikipedia article they called cryptozoology a pseudoscience (which in any case is a great "catch-all" grab bag for things they don't understand or don't want to understand). Tell you a little story about so called "smart" scientists. For centuries, the people in the forests of Northern Vietnam used to tell stories of an antelope like creature that lived in the forest there that was as large as a red deer. All the best and brightest zoologists, ecologists etc, said it didn't exist. Couldn't exist. They knew all there was to know about the large ungulate animal species of SE Asia, and there definitely wasn't such an animal. Even when they were shown bits of carcasse of the animal, they discredited the locals. Two zoologists in the mid-late 80's were doing a survey of animal species in the forests there and they were about to leave as it was their last day in the forest. Early that morning they were having breakfast and getting ready to leave when one of them happened to turn around from their campfire. Guess what was standing behind them, casually watching what they were doing....one "it doesn't exist" "Mr Antelope"

Needless to say the guys carefully grabbed a camera and started taking piccies. Then when it walked away from the camp, they followed it only to find a herd of about 10 or so antelope not more than 100 yards from where they were camped!!!.
After that, there were quite a few "experts" walking around with egg on face. Lots of retractions and apologies ensued.
So, when an "expert" say this and that, until definitive proof is evident take what they say with a grain of salt. And when they deny something even though the evidence for its existence is there in plain sight, then they're not as expert as they would like to, or have you, believe.
