Jupiter and io, and moon shots from last night 01-08

Well seeing wasnt brilliant for my first try at jupiter, I did capture the io transit but not really that good as it was low in the sky.
Did manage to capture io after transit however, and just managed to capture the scar before it disappeared.

Also turned to the moon for another go.

8"sct + canon 40d and movrec software to capture avi's

Nice and sharp and loads of detail.
Jupiter also looks good with Io nearby.

Nice going Mart! Some say that last night was rough seeing. I thought it wasn't too bad at all. Like the title says this is my second attempt using a 7" f15 Mak and a Neximager, prime focus. So you've put me in my place. I'm dead impressed with your results since dSLRs are not well suited for solar sytem photography. Hope the bug has bitten.

You even have the Wesley impact right on the limb, top job considering you used a DSLR.

Thanks Mike, I have used a neximager but found the 40D to be much better.
The bug had bitten me since Christmas just gone when I looked through my first telescope

Thanks Trevor, I was lucky to catch the impact just before it disappeared

I have a few more AVI's I havent processed yet, may put them up if they turn out OK.

Just a quick Question, I am thinking of getting a 10" dob to mount on the EQ6, would this give me an advantage over the 8"sct for imaging??? If so, how??
