First Light (well almost)

Had a go at the Triffid neb... Thought I would get in while there no clouds about.... I'm just trying to learn the art of Photon collection and I have been reading posts and looking at the wonderful images that are posted here on this site. I captured about 45 minutes worth for this image using a SW 12" guided on EQ6 with a 450D unmodified in prime focus...I as yet do not possess much in the way of processing software, so I used Gimp to play with the curves a bit...and it said that it would reduce the images to 8 bit... so I guess thats a negative....I was reasonably pleased with the result, I was suprised to see the dust show up in the image...

I best be off to bed ...it's 4 am....zzzzzz

Kind regards

Paul

Probably colour a bit wrong but a fine image none the less, tracking appears ok as does focus but sometimes hard to tell with the displayed image size

You can post a larger scale say 1000x600 which can be depressed in jpeg under 250k limit and still be presentable

Thank you for your comments... I forgot to say in the original post...the 45 min of exposure were made up of 12 lights ICNR and then DSS... and of course tweaked in Gimp.......again I appreciate the comments...

Just beginning, just great first light Paul. Looks like you are well on the way. Good data like this will allow you to play with the processing quite a bit and learn how to get the best from your software.

Nice.

Paul,

Great result for your first attempts!

JPG images are saved in 8-bit format. TIFF's (and, others) are saved in 8 or 16 (and, higher, depending on the file type) format.

Regards,
Humayun
