Following from the Dune theme and Pink Floyd reference, the following pictures may be of interest?
The first shows moon setting over our camp in the southern Simpson, with the belt of Venus evident.
Second photo was a few days earlier, further north in the red dunes, with the camera set to 'sunset'. Colours are a bit peculiar because of that setting.
Third is further north again, natural colours.
Fourth was taken as the sun was rising behind the camera, with the sunlight working its way accross the dunes toward the camera.
And the last is a classic dune shot.

Beautiful colour and subject of the great Aussie desert.
Did that red sand get into everything?? Went to Alice Springs MANY years ago, and remembered that our cases got that red 'bull dust' through everything!
Dust wasn't an issue on this trip. The car is well sealed - in fact, we got more dust inside when we stopped and did stuff with the doors open.
We were also fortunate that winds were light at night, so dust in the camp didn't really happen. We did suffer one dust storm, but we were driving at the time, so we just stopped for a while and listened to the footy on the HF!
It was our best ever trip. Conditions were brilliant - to cross the flooded Eyre Creek between the dunes on the QAA Line (the swales were just so green thus 'Greenswale'), to see the flooded Warburton River on the south eastern corner, to experience the Hay River and have four separate rain days (!) in the desert made for a memorable experience.
We did find dust, see the picture below! Plus i added a shot of the flooded Eyre Creek. Difficult to imagine that is normally totally dry, not much green and that the water just dissipates into the dunes.....
Great colours and not bad composition. I'd perhaps be inclined to clone out the overexposed moon...and perhaps go in a little tighter with an overall crop.

And thank you also for the suggestions on refining the images. BUT, I will be remaining a simple shoot and look photographer, and a visual amateur astronomer. Maybe when I slow down a bit, playing with images could become a passion?
