Bagged my first Galaxy - CentaurusA

My first Galaxy, the highly unoriginal CentaurusA...SURPRISE!!

Taken on 13 June, 10" GSO, 40D, 16x20sec, ISO1600, cropped.
Poor drift alignment, no MPCC, no darks, no ICNR, no flats and with that list no bloody hope either.

But as a first galaxy I'll take it!

So much to learn in this Astrophoto game, I feel it's like trying to ride a bike while juggling and reciting the alphabet backwards, sure there's some freak out there who can do it but to learn it all in one hit is just impossible...but it is fun though.

A nice start to your collection of galaxies.

I hope you don't mind I had a bit of a fiddle with levels and curves and some noise reduction in PS and came up with this. The JPG artifacts can't be helped at this size and resolution.
Nice first go but you need the calibration files, they make a world of diference.

Hagar hagar hagar, what are ya doin man

JD, I have seen plenty of images of Cen A in my time and your shot (not Hagars rework ) isn't too bad, it looks quite subtle and natural really with some nice detail, nice first galaxy indeed

Well done Justin, a good start.

You should have seen my first attempt at this galaxy.

Looking forward to seeing more.
