LBN 406; Draco
I hope that its OK to post this here but this one is from far north in Draco. Hard to believe, but there is a reflection nebula in Draco (Draco is one of those "boring" constellations). LBN 406 is very faint and appears to be void of much color. Here it is -- not the prettiest but cool looking dust clouds:

BTW, this was my first attempt at L-OSC combine. I thought for my first OSC image I'd try an object that is really, really faint! Heck with the easy colorful targets For the OSC I de-Bayered into individual R,G,B files then processed as if they were taken with R,G,B filters.
Best regards,
Tom

Tom,
Fantastic work.
Lots of background galaxies to go a-huntin' for.
Cheers for your workflow, as well.

Humayun

Another interesting and unique image. One shot colour eh?
I had an STL11000CM once. Nice camera. I didn't find any gain from
debayering into RGB and recombining though. I did find a gain by
desaturating the RGB and use it as a luminance and sharpen it up more and recombine. The colour combine straight out of the camera seemed pretty good.
Main problem with OSC is colour noise in the background or dim areas.
You seem to be on top of that in your dust areas.
OSC of course has the huge advantage of every shot counts so if cloud comes over and you only got red or green you can still make an image. Was that the main attraction?
Greg.

Tom, I already answered you over at CN, but again this is a wonderful image!
I am with Greg here wanting to know how to tame the color noise - put out by the OSC camera - in regions of low S/N ratio!

Color noise for sure (compared to mono camera)!
Yes, that was the main attraction. I'm just seeing how it compares to my ML11002. If it doesn't workout then I'll go back to the ML (I still have it). I'm still trying as much data out of each imaging session.

Great shot! I really like the little galaxy to the left too... All in all that is a great image..
I like the idea of doing L-OSC. I suppose its nice and easy when you have a colour and mono version of the same camera compared to using two very different cameras with different resolution etc...

awesome image, love the subtle textures, even looks like one of the small galaxies in the image is a small Saturn. Great stuff.

Don't remember seeing this region imaged before Tom. Excellent image so subtle in every way. Beautiful job

Great work Tom. Sure, Draco appears rather featureless in terms of stunning extended objects, but I feel what you've portrayed makes up for it. The result has quite a pleasing visual impact. Thanks for sharing.
