LX90 Auto Star control problems. Help!

I've just purchased a LX90 /8inch scope and I'm finding it difficult operating the Auto Star control. When it is switched on you have the option to press O for auto align, which if I've interpreted the instructions correctly, provides north, level, tilt etc. If you press Mode you first set the scope to north , level etc.
Pressing either O or Mode gives me the say manual set up requirements. It will not give me Automatic alignment. Can some kind member advise?

Gday Dennis

Autoalign is a pain and slow, yr better off just doing a manual 2 star.
However, if you really need to use autoalign,
the simplest way is to just mode until you hit the top menu.
Then scroll to "setup" and hit enter
Scroll to "Align" and hit enter
Scroll and select the mode you want
As long as you are Alt/Az and have a working LNT module
one of the options shld be "Automatic"
Note, the first star may well be off by a long way
If so, you will need to run "calibrate sensors"

Thanks Andrew.
After submitting the request I received an explanation from Astro. I had removed the Smart Finder and upset the computer. Should any one fall for this I sincerely hope this will be a help and I thank Shane at Astro Optics for his assistance.

Just for others info, you didnt "upset" the computer.
On booting, it looks at how it is set up ( Alt/Az or Polar ) and if an LNT is attached
Based on these, it adds/subtracts menu items.
Autoalign is only available if AltAz and you have a fitted LNT.

You cannot plug the LNT in after booting as it doesnt recheck,
it only checks once when booting

All good fun

Andrew

Dennis has asked a question via PM on how to replace the LNT battery, I thought it may be an idea to post here so others can find it.

Appendix D (page 54) is the section you're after in the LX90 manual.
Follow this link to download the manual if yours isn't up to date.

It's a fiddly job (not difficult) and you will need to realign red dot finder and recalibrate the sensors after battery replacement.

The battery type is a lithium CR2023.

Phil. After sending you a reply I checked the the LNT on the scope. It isn't in any way like that shown on the Appendix D It has a rubber hatch on the underside covering the battery, therefore I'd assume a battery change isn't a problem. What with your submission and this I hope it is a help for others.
