I absolutely detest and despise this weather.
We had 133mm yesterday.
It's flooded every causeway in the district.
It's made the roads so very dangerous and slippery. Tragedies happen during this sort of weather.

I just passed couple of kids , got cleaned up on a roundabout
right outside the hospital, other drivers were carrying them in .
One was on one of those little trikes about a foot off the ground.. hope there all right

same rubbish here, just without the rain...

although we do have the DSE making life miserable down here in Melbourne. Clear weekend coming up, I'll bet my bank account that these crackpots will ruin it

Yes Graham. the problem is that drivers don't slow down
enough, especially on bends and roundabouts when tyres
are likely to break loose and braking distances double.
Pretty sad when kids pay the price for a driver's stupidity.

Sometimes it's not stupidity, it's inexperience that causes accidents.
You know yourself how easy it is to lose control when there is so much water on the road. If only defensive driving was compulsory there would be less accidents at these times.

Hello All,

From someone who helps put those broken bodies back together, I have seen some very sad stories. Young lives that have be compleatly ruined by either their or someone elses stupid mistake behind the wheel. Young teenagers who had vibrant lives before and everything to look forward to are now stuck with bodies and brains that don't work properly anymore, some needing full time care to do everything, others being left with damaged brains that won't allow them to reach the potential they once had, all for a split second mistake.

Please slow down in the wet, be carefull in the dry too. I would rather everyone stay whole and not have to put people back together again!

Paul

I just really hope the driver got a chance to brake .. It would of been easy to miss the young guy as its one of those trikes you lie in very low to the ground .. The rain was coming in horizontal with a
40/50 knot wind black sky and headlights at 4.00pm .. I doubt you could see anything much under 50 cm as the spray was just pouring up off the road .

Medical help was close by so hopefully it worked out ok .

Add me to the chorus of disapproval with this weather.

I've got so much I want to do but I can't. I picked up a compass the other day so I could start doing polar alignment, also brought a red spot viewfinder which I want to try out and last but definately not least, my new EP arrived yesterday!

But what do I get? Rain, rain, rain and some more rain. And to top it off, the new moon is this weekend and forecast doesn't look that much better.

Sigh......

Speaking of stupidity on the roads in these conditions. I live not far from my work (10 minute drive) yet on THREE occassions during this short period, I had a car pull out in front of me coming in from a side road! It's bad enough in dry conditions but at night in the wet!

I lost a work colleague/friend last night due to this stupid rotten weather. Steph was just 19yrs old. The township of Kilcoy is in shock today. Tomorrow....I don't want to think about how emotional it will be at work tomorrow.
Please take care on the roads.

Always always watch out for kids, they do the silliest things sometimes. We had a young lad from my school who walked out in front of the bus that just dropped him off and got cleaned up by a car. That was in mid Feb and he has only returned this week and is very lucky to be alive.

Sorry to hear about your workmate JJJ, its always really horrible when things like this happen.

Hey jjj,

I don't know what to say. Hope it was not overwhelming.

Hey Lismore Bloke,

Pretty wild sort of weather for May.
I heard on radio by authorities that stupid people have been removing warning signs. Road signs warning of flooded road and road closed.

This is so they can drive their usual way. Ofcourse several come to grief. Caught in flood waters. That ties up SES resources un-necessarily.

These people face prosicution and in worst cases man-slaughter charges if a drowning occurs.

The appeal on ABC radio was " If you are usually stupid, please stop for one day and not enter flood waters."

I can understand yours and their frustration.

Cheers Marty

On a brighter note Perth has had its first winter storm winds up to 100 kph
and some rain not much though

only 60000 households without power for several hours we cooked dinner on the barbecue in the dark with an umbrella covering the chops. glass of red in hand and then dinner by candlelight

Been pelting down all afternoon out here. Same at school in Midland after lunch. It had better keep coming as well. Hey Trevor don't they say the conception rate climbs every time there is a blackout? Makes you wonder why people are in such a hurry to buy big TV's .
