Guiding & PEC

Hi all,
Would someone let me know if I need to turn off my PEC to enable guiding with my LX200GPS...and if so, how does one do it??
Many thanks

Gday Peter

In short no. ( Assuming you are Polar )
PEC is done as a simple "baseline" motor speed adjust, once every 2.4secs ( approx ).
Guide speed adjusts then get read "as sent", and just modify the underlying speed.
Hence Having PEC on vs off will not have any "internal" effect in the LX200GPS. The main benefit is if you have a good PEC model, it preemptively adjusts for known errors, hence your guider doesnt have to work as hard.
To turn it on/off use Setup->Telescope->SmartDrive->RA PEC->On/off

If you are AltAz, PEC is broken, so dont bother trying.
