Guys,
The following changes have been made to the
IceInSpace Forum Posting Guidelines:
Rule #11 expanded:
Quote:
Vendors are permitted to participate in discussions but not promote or sell their products. That is, they are free and welcome to post in their capacity as an amateur astronomer or stargazer, but in their capacity as a vendor they should only state information in a thread that discusses one of their products. Their signature may include a link to their company website.
|
What this means, is that if someone posts a thread about a product, its specifications, etc, the vendor of that product is free to correct any wrong information or answer specific questions about what the product can do. However vendors should avoid selling or advertising their products, especially in other threads not specifically related to their product. Example, they should not post "buy it from here.." type of statements.
They are more than welcome (and encouraged) to participate in the IceInSpace community as an amateur astronomer or stargazer.
Rule #16 added:
Quote:
When discussing a vendor, be careful about what you post as it can be easy for comments to be taken the wrong way and a vendor may take offence. In general, remember to be specific about your experience or opinion, don't generalise and don't play judge and jury. The rule #7 above applies even more so here - think and re-read before pressing submit.
|
This rule was added due to a recent thread about a vendor which degenerated and had many bad comments from forum members which have the possibility of landing them, or IceInSpace, in legal trouble. So this guideline is to encourage people to think before they post, especially when talking about a vendor.
If you haven't read the guidelines yet, then please take the time to do so now. It is at the top of every forum so you can't miss it, and you can't plead ignorance if your post is deleted because it violates the guidelines. It's your job to ensure you keep up to date with the guidelines and that your posts don't breach any of the forum rules.
Thanks and I'm happy for discussions about the rules or guidelines to take place in this thread.
