Our bit for Astronomy 2009

G,Day All ,
Ken Charlwood an myself last night with the help of the local library set our telescope's up in one of our park's .The response from the locals was great but we allowed only 40 people to attend as we only had two telescope at the time , but one person in the crowd who came said that he had a small telescope at home so we sent him to get it . Though we had a full moon on the night we were able to show them M42 in Orion , the rings of Saturn and the double star in the pointers as well as the moon. The people that attended were from young children to old all were amazed with what they saw . With the response we got was great ,and we may have another night later on in the year (just be for daylight saving )but we will pick the night and make sure we have a dark night .

Sounds like a great night of "sidewalk atronomy" Ian! You've done well to generate public interest in our hobby.

Cheers
Wade
