Ha Repro Final Version

Hi Again

Did another version of M8 and Eta .... this time not de-bayered and 2xdrizzle mode in DSS ... giving a 3200x2400 pixel image ... now reduced to 1000x750 for IIS posting.
I think I finally got the subtlety, detail and smoothness in the images that I was looking for.
Anyway this is the last version I will be doing I promise.

p.s. I just added a rotated version of Eta .... I think it looks better in this orientation somehow .... as if the light from the brighter area is cast downwards and to the right ... seems to my eye to add to the 3 dimensional feel of the image

Hi Steve

These are pretty good Ha images, well done.

Any tips or tricks you care to share?

Clear skies.

These are my first Ha images Wayne so I'm still learning myself mate ... glad you like them.

The only thing I can say is good scope ... good camera ... good mount ... good filter ... good weather ... good luck

There are lots of members on IIS who could tell you more than me about this type of imaging. The only thing that I already commented on was that because I use an SBIG ST2000XCM camera with dual chip for guiding I have to make my guiding exposures much longer than I normally would because of the big reduction in light striking the CCD due to the very narrow bandwidth of the Baader 7nm Ha filter. Other than that it's the same as colour or mono imaging .... make sure you focus before you start and monitor your guiding.

They are top images Steve. The Ha images seem to have a real depth to them - it's like looking at 3d images in monochrome. Great stuff.
