May moon from Sydney

Yes, its that time of the month again when the moon takes centre stage and gives us all a chance to wonder at its amazing surface. I mounted the 40D last night on the back of my 100ED scope with a 2x barlow in between giving a focal length of 1800mm and got the below shot (warning - about 1mb size)

I am always amazed when looking through the scope at the different shapes up there, especially the way the shadows change things throughout its monthly cycle.

Beautiful image, Brett. Very sharp.

It's a shame you haven't got the lower half - perhaps two shots mosaic'd together would've been even better.

Nice work.

Very nice Brett. I was comparing the change in light and shadows between your pic and the couple I too a few nights before. Quite dramatic.

Well done.

Thanks Mike,

I didn't really think about that as I also wanted to try the sp900 cam I recently picked up so I wacked that on after a few shots with the slr. I must say it certainly not easy getting focus with the standard single speed focuser sometimes.

Brilliant image Brett,

Top stuff, love the resolution and agree with Mike about a mosaic.

Hi Wayne,

Nope, I cant make it to SPSP but I sure wish I could. I am hoping to get down to the Border star party later in the year though.
