prawn trawling

went a little troppo, decided to try having a go with the ed80 and just using the 12 inch as a guidescope... well its different.

13 x 12 min exp qhy8 using an Mpcc (didnt have a proper flattener so i figured it couldnt hurt that much), i cropped it as the edges were somewhat dodgy.

had some high thin cloud move through during the night so it looks a little soft.

Some beautiful colours, Clive. Lovely. Could probably even raise the black point a little.

Also are you using a field flattener? Some coma near the top is the only issue.

no field flattener other than the mpcc just as a why not it might be better than nothing, i was just playing around to see what sort of detail i could get with a longer exposure. hoping my new rings for the 12 inch newt turn up soon so i can extend my sub times with that . At 600mm focal length i figured 12 mins should be easy... and it was.

i wouldnt mind having a big refractor but dont want to spend the dough at the moment, astronomy is one of those hobbies that you couyld just spend forever and still want more.

the small scopes unfortunately cant dish up the detail the big one gives ... see pic attached - these were 6 min subs if i can extend the big scope to 12 that would be great, only time will tell.
