M46 Barambah

This was the first image I took at the camp.
Dedicated to Gargoyle Steve. He does a terrific job organising this camp.
I know this cluster has a special place in his heart.
I took 89 frames for a total of 28 minutes and 14 seconds of exposure time.
Using the ed80 and my Canon 20d.
And of course it was all mounted on the Tower of Terror.

Hi JJJ

Top shot. That PN looks stunning in its setting against the cluster. I’m sure Steve will feel suitably honoured!

Cheers

Dennis

Looks good JJJ. It's an interesting area with the star cluster, PN and the bright yellow star.

An excellent image all-round JJJ. Well done at maintaining the stellar profiles to keep the star colour hues present. Very nice.

Super duper image Jeanette. I love the subtle way the PN jumps out at you - very nice.

I like this one as well Jan...
Ok, the open cluster doesn't do much for me on it's own, but the little planetary nestled within just makes this very special.

Good object choice!

All the best
Rich

I know what you mean Rich.
It's a hidden treasure that little planetary.

Thanks so much Jeanette, this really is my favourite DSO, and I love your image of it, you've really captured the planetary and it's core star nicely - ever since you gave me a copy of this image at Barambah it's been on my desktop and I spend some time each day just looking at it.

"Steve's planetary" .... great name Rob, I might just have to keep referring to it as such, although I'm sure the IAU would have something to say about that.

With your permission Jeanette we'd especially like to feature this on the Camp website as well.

Thanks Jeanette, much appreciated and yes we'd love to be able to show off all of your images.

I'll get on to Randall and between us we'll sort out some kind of new presentation imaging pages for the Barambah Dark Sky Camp website as soon as possible.
