eBay vs. Oztion

This is only my personal experience of these two auction sites in the last twelve months.

About this time last year, many of you may recall the eBay Australia was trying to change its payment policy rules buy removing bank deposit option and forcing PayPal on everyone. Even the ACCC became involved and eBay n most, reversed it's decision.

I was one of many (dare I say hundreds) ofr eBay users who signed up with Oztion, the Australian on-line Auction site, partly in protest at eBay's policy changes.

At the same time was still an eBay member and after twelve months, I bought 1 item of on Oztion, listed over twenty items for sale ranging from books, memorabilia, model railways and other areas of interest - none sold.

During the same time I found and subsequently bought 14 items on eBay, and sold my twenty items - all sold.

A big difference between the two sites. When it all boils down, for all its faults, eBay is more populars. From my perspective, I will stick to eBay. I would like to hear from others about their experiences on Oztion.

I've been visiting Oztion for a while now and it seems to be growing, tho I'm yet to buy from there.
Thats not saying much tho 'coz in the last 9 years I've only bought 8 items from ebay, and 6 of those in the last few months!
It's probably just my paranoia, but the sellers there(Oztion) appear to be more dodgy... there's tons of pirated DVD's for sale.

I swore off eBay for a fair while, tried Oztion but it just doesn't have the range of goods, or the bargains that ebay continues to offer. Trading Post is the same, and the website is slower than a month of rainy Sundays!

I spend a bit of time upgrading family computers (5 kids, 9 grand kids, and assorted riff raff!) and Oztion just doesn't have the right stuff. An 80GB hard disk for $32, 2 GB of laptop memory for $64, only eBay provides those products at those prices. And don't go spending any money on astro gear on either site, it's 99.99% pure rubbish, don't bother even looking!

Cheers
Chris

Yes, I think we would all agree re: astro gear, however I agree with you on the other points particularly computer parts, collectibles and memorabilia, especially from the US.
