Just some shots i have done of semi-recent times, i packed up all the gear with the bushfires and have now re installed all the gear to the observatory,
the first ngc 2467 i had done earlier but have added exposures to bring it up to 8hrs ( quite an achievement for melbourne skies), the others are about 2-3 hr exposures , more done as testing everything to get it running properly, running chicken, omega centauri, and galaxy cluster around ngc4696
i have been working on getting rid of the flexure in the system so i can extend my subs beyond 6mins, ive reinforced the section where the focuser mounts to the tube, added some support to the camera to try to stop movement there, my last problem is the tube itself as its fine as a dob , but in all honesty is not rigid enough for what im doing... have made enquiries regarding new rings which might help a bit more.( pic of my scope attached as well)
thats about it for now , the DSE have a large burning off going around here for a while so i will get out when its done
Nice well done, There is some gradient colour in the last one you might have pushed it so far trying to get the dim stuff. I like the 2467 the best. Great rig shot, like the cable routing.
Lovely images Clive, Beginning to think you had skipped the country. We have a few ?controlled burns around us at the moment. Smoke is so thick you cannot see 1/2 Km. All be over soon I hope.
Back to the images,,, nice colour, focus and well resolved with your big scope. Well done Mate.

yes ken, i noticed this too, it has started to appear on more of my shots, the light pollution has come out here too now, the footy ground has big floodlights on it that glow well into the sky on their training nights, arggghhh i guess thats progress.

Good to see you back in the saddle Clive. Nice portfolio you've presented. NGC2467 is the stand out image (as others have noted). I enjoy how you've processed this one. Reflection nebulosity is quite pronounced, yet a smooth transition to the emission nebulosity exists. Well done.

I'd give all the se excellent images a teeny wee bit of unsharp mask personally, i mean a very small light hint if at all

Dave and Barb... thanks guys , the longer the focal length the harder the job is, still with time all problems will be resolved...have you seen the latest ESO shot of omega , whew i wish i could do that.
Jase. Back in the saddle sort of, i still have to getmy rig running just right, then i can up the exposures to 10 plus min and go deeper and sharper.
Multiweb.... i dont know how havy it is with all the gear , overloaded no doubt, yet the mount seems to perform quite well, its protected mostly from the wind inside the observatory , but would indeed be better with a smaller scope. they originally had just a 11 inch celestron mounted hence the G11, mine has a 12 inch plus and ED80 plus mounting plate plus 2 dew heater setups. to go to the next level is a titan or a paramount... too dear for me unfortunately. if the new mods dont work i would have to rethink my strategy
frank. the last 3 need more work as a processing but untill i can get a better tracking going i probably wont bother,
iam ordering some custom made rings from Orion Optics in England and have given them the go ahead to make.... why doesnt anyone do it here?
