Talking Eta Carina Nebula

My best one so far.
Not sure about the colour though. Still playing around with the saturation levels.

10 minutes at iso 3200 the rest at iso 1600.

Considering the exposure time that's come up a treat Jeanette.

A little over sharpened maybe?
I like the saturation of the first, but the second catches a little more detail in the core.

I'd be happy with that effort if it was mine, well done.

Really bringing out the detail now Jeanette. Fantastic job

This is the simplest way to add colour.

Go to Image-Adjustments-Selective Color

You will see a bar at the top of the drop down window which has Red selected

Move the Cyan slider to the left this will add more red
Move the Majenta slider to the right this will add more Majenta

Just play around with each slider and adjust the tone to your taste

Then click on the colour panel bar and choose Majenta

Again move the Cyan slider to the left and the Majenta slider to the right adjust to tone.

You will get used to the strength of the colour added by pushing the sliders to the max then just slide back until you reach a suitable saturation.

Do the Selective Color early in your processing it's best not to push your Levels adjustment too far until you've added the colour first adjust Levels afterwards.

Hope this helps

Barb

Justin, I see what you mean. The jpeg compression is horrible, the original is a lot smoother.

I'm getting a small taste of Northern hemisphere skies next week.
Pity I can't take the scope with me, but I'm taking the camera so I'll be happy to catch some wide fields.
