My first photo, no fancy equipment here. No telescope, no guiding, no DSLR, no fancy focus, just a 2 yr old 7MP Ricoh R5 compact on a static tripod pointing at a broad general point in the sky.
16 frames, 200 ISO, 8 sec subs (max camera can do), stack and processed with DSS.
Well done Trevor. Try pointing your camera towards Eta Carina or the Orion Nebula as well. You can get some good star charts from Skymaps.com. Have fun with your new endeavour.
