100 Hours of Astronomy- Sidewalk Astronomy in Canberra

Saturday 4 April is the night when the IYA Committee has asked astronomical societies around the world to host "sidewalk astronomy" sessions in cities. Canberra Astronomical Society will host a session from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm at Commonwealth Place carpark (between Questacon and the lake) this Saturday night. Proceeds from this event will go to Victorian Bushfire Relief.

I have been to the last few CAS meetings, and heard talk of this a while ago.

Talking 100 Hours of Astronomy- Sidewalk Astronomy in Canberra

I would like to thank Duncan and the Canberra Astronomical Society for making me feel welcome. I had a blast

It was a great turn out as well as the clouds held off, I did not open my thermos of coffee until 1 1/2 hours into the session. I was too busy which was unreal.

Duncan I seen you with a camera at set up, where's the photos?

yes mate, it was great fun and your company was certainy essential in making it a great night, some great views of Saturn, and Omega Centauri, although the sky was just too washed out for the Sombrero.

Thanks for coming along !!

hopefully its not the last time we can share the view through an eyepiece

will post some pics tommorow
