NGC 4945 - Work in progress

The clouds cleared long enough to get a couple of hours of Luminance last night. I was going to get some more data tonight but guess what!! ...

Since I haven't been able to image since December (!) I thought I'd share this as a work in progress.

Small: http://www.pbase.com/gailmarc/image/110479642/large
Large: http://www.pbase.com/gailmarc/image/110479642/original

I had a few guiding problems with the AO-L but the result isn't too bad.

Cheers, Marcus

Marcus, that looks magnificent, I can't wait to see what you will produce with the colour data on this wonderful object.

Cheers.

stuuuuunning!!!! If you look closer you can see dozens, perhaps even hundreds of extremely tiny galaxies littering the field.

Thanks Andrew. I hope to get some colour in the next few days - looking forward to capturing those beautiful yellow hues too.

Thanks Michael. This is my first image using my new Robofocus unit so focus was pretty consistent & good over 8 subs. FWHM ranged between 1.8 and 2.1 arcsecs - not too bad!

Thanks Frank - just got to make sure I get plenty of data so I don't mess things up with too much colour noise.

Yeah, those dust clouds are cool. They seem to extend well into the halo in places too. Some more Luminance data will go down well if I can get some good seeing.

Thanks mate. Yes, there are quite a few - not sure there are hundreds though (?) - some pretty faint stars in there no doubt.

Cheers, Marcus

Hi Marcus,
great going with your nice set up.

I like the detail your rig has brought to this galaxy.
Plenty of interesting dusky swirls of turbulence going on. Right in your face.
Just the right fov and res, what this galaxy needs I feel to do it justice.

I've imaged it and passed it up quite a lot of times. Felt it never did anything for me.

But this is excellent.
Look forward to the colour.

All the best
Rich
