WO 66SD + 2" adapter

On the weekend I purchased the 2" adapter for my WO 66SD refractor. The main reason was so that I can get great low-power wide field views using my 2" EPs. Well tonight I tried it out for the first time, but can't get any EPs to come to focus using my WO 2" diagonal in the adapter. I just can't bring them close enough to focus. I tried 6 different EPs (only 2 are 2") with and without barlow. I could only get EPs to focus using a 1.25" diagonal (which has a shorter lightpath).

So it seems that you can only use the 2" adapter straight through, without a diagonal. Not what I expected, and not exactly convenient.

I'm surprised that I hadn't heard of this limitation before, as I've seen the adapter mentioned various times in forum threads, etc. I was really looking forward to this configuration, so I'm rather disappointed. I guess it will still come in handy if I want to hook up my DSLR to it.

Has anyone else got this adapter, and if so did you have the same issue - or is there some way around it (I really can't imagine what though)?

Hi Nick

I just bought the same scope and a WO 2" diagonal to go with it. I also bought the SCT adapter which screws into the front of the diagonal allowing it to be fitted to the scope. Just take out the original 2" tube and fit the adapter. It is very short and works a treat. Steve at My astro shop has them. Link is

Good luck
