Everglades Cricket

Just going through some holiday snaps from last year. This photo of a cricket was taken by my father. While my father was taking a photo of the cricket, I was taking a photo of my father taking a photo of the cricket

The full size crop from the image of the cricket (2.3Mb) can be found by clicking here

The leg spikes look formidable.

Doh, shows how much I know about my insects!

A google search shows that crickets are nocturnal, while grasshoppers aren't, so the easiest way to tell if it is a cricket or a grasshopper is to look at your watch! Since it is a daytime shot it is definately a grasshopper!

Andrew,

That is stunning! And, look, he posed for the photo, too!

Kudos to the old man.

Regards,
Humayun
