Great first shot.

The start of a lot of sleepless nights. Nice Trevor.

Ok...Trev, apart from the orange colour of M83 ...it's a start

I assume the filter you used caused the sunset galaxy..? Do you have to use it..and what exactly is it?

The filter good for nebula's apparently but I forgot I had it attached as one does late at night. I had the street lights go out about 10:00pm so it made for a nice dark night for me however I had problems with PHD it just wouldn't lock onto a guide star kept returning an error "not enough star movement".

My original intent for the night was to go for NGC4372 but with all the and this is what I started on but with the hassle I had with PHD (most unusual) I switched over to M83.

I took about 24 minutes data of NGC4372 but it was binned just didn't cut it and wasn't what I was looking to acheive so i'll save that target for another night

Like the others have said, great data on the galaxy, hold the colour!!.

Unless, of course, M83 had been out to an Indian restaurant!!!

Carbon galaxy! That aside, definately a nice capture, will turn out great in its natural colour.

I opened it up in photoshop to attempt to recolour it for you, however the red channel seems to have plenty of data, much of the galaxy is visible in the red channel, slightly less in the green, and next to nothing in the blue.. I think your NBP filter destroyed the image?

In any case, the guiding, focus and target look very good (more so when converted to greyscale.. I would put forth the idea of perhaps cropping the image down a bit, so we get a bigger look at M83 without the surrounding empty space...

might've been the NPB, because on the brighter stars you can see that reddish halo effect that appears when these LP filters are used visually.
