The Arcadia at the Overseas Passenger Terminal

Here's another image from the night I went down to see the ships in the harbour.

This is the P&O Cruise ship - The Arcadia.
It's quite big and lovely to look at and has 11 levels and glass elevators.

This time I processed the HDR/Tonemap differently from my usual workflow using Photomatix and wanted a more saturated feel to the image.
I'm happy with how this one turned out in Photomatix.

Hope you like it too.

Cheers

Excellent

Hi Andrew,

Beautiful image and excellent work.

Best Regards

Gary

Apparently Arcas was the son of Zeus and Callisto.
Might that make the ship a "he"?

The astronomical connection (this is IceInSpace after all) is that apparently Arcas,
whilst hunting, was about to accidentally kill his mother, who for some nutty reason had become
a bear. Zeus intervened and turned him into a bear too and zapped he and mum into
the sky, where they became, yes, you guessed it, Ursa Major and Ursa Minor.

Thank you 'renorm', I like the perspective too and I'm so happy with the vivid colours that came through too.

Phil you can almost feel the ground swaying under your feet when you stand on the observation deck.

Oh btw, if anyone is in the area today, the huge Luxury Passenger Liner - Queen Mary II is in Sydney.
It arrived this morning at Garden Island and leaves after midnight.

It's so big it won't fit at the Overseas Passenger Terminal at the Quay.
But be warned, authorities expect a lot of delays around Sydney as last time the QM2 was in town, traffic was thrown into chaos.

If you're interested in finding out which ships are arriving next, a good website to visit is Sydney Ports:

The life boats with the windows must be for the first class passengers.

Thank you Trevor, glad you liked it, I really enjoyed myself while I was down there. I decided to stay till after midnight when she set sail.
It was a carnival atmosphere complete with a bagpipe player and lots of people taking photos.

LOL I thought that too, but I think they may use the ones with windows to take people off when they dock in remote island getaways, and they also double as life boats not sure.

Thank you so much Ron.
I was amazed to read they have nearly 1000 crew members.

I only wish I could have seen the Queen Mary II when she was in, I read that The QMII is three times the size of The Titanic !!

Great photo Andrew.
You have a real feel for processing. You handle all the different types of artificial light brilliantly.
Vivid colors and sharp through out.

Very nice

A blast from the past

A bit different to the last Arcadia on which I came to Australia as a child migrant nearly 50 years ago.

I would have liked the opportunity to look it over while it was here.
