Tom Hanks has agreed to turn the LHC back on. He was visiting CERN following the making of his new movie which is set in the CERN. Should be interesting to watch to see inside if nothing else!Angels and Demons its called.
Now I'm worried, hope there are no liquid oxygen tanks involved in the LHC installation. If so, hope they don't let him anywhere near the switch that stirs the liquid oxygen tanks. Look what happened in Apollo 13 the movie.
Good. Now we will have someone to blame if it doesn't work!
Perhaps he should instead turn his acting career back on, as the last film he made of any consequence was "Forrest Gump" (1994) and "Apollo 13" (1995). The rest of his work so far has, well, IMO, been pretty dismal
Note: I noticed something when doing a Google search for the date of Apollo 13. I type Apollo 13, and the first hit in Google is the film and not the mission! Some 12 of the 25 hits (c.50%) were related to something other than the real mission. (Nine were for the Hanks movie!) Bizarre.

Ah yes... the old Cryo-stir...
In a convoluted way there's not a very good track record there, is there?

I stand corrected, He was in "Saving Private Ryan" in 1998, and that was a good performance, as was the "Green Mile" in (1999). Yet after seeing only part of "Castaway" in (2000) - well in hasn't been all that memorable.
I also found an interesting quote from Tom Hanks himself, who said;
"I've made over 20 movies, and 5 of them are good."
Now I only I can think of the fifth one...
Is this new Tom Hanks movie Angels and Demons based on the book by Dan Brown from about 2000? It was a great read, hope they havent killed the book by making a movie.
Castaway ..that was one flick he did I didn't enjoy that much .
pretty demanding on the actor I guess being the only one on screen
for much of the movie .. I was kinda hopeing wilson would escape and be picked up by a passing ship .. that poor soccor ball didn't deserve that torture
Hanks gets much kudos from me for the "From the Earth to the Moon" series. He was executive producer, narrator/host, and he played one small role in one of the scenes too.

Wilson should've got an Oscar!
It's been a long time since I watched the movie, but I seem to remember some parts of it were a bit lame. Its a tough movie to make IMO and make it entertaining.
...but Wilson was great!
If you want to find out how much Tom Hanks is into space stuff, What the extras on the Apollo 13 DVD, and watch the movie with the commentary on.
