I did another plane trip today for work doing optic fibre.

Today both the up and back legs were in a Beech King Air.
And once again, got to sit in the number 2 seat!

Some pics:

1. Aborted takeoff, birds on strip near exit.(you can just see them)
2. On our way, climbing out of Parafield.
3.&4. passing 17,000ft for FL 270 (27,000ft)
5. Cruise alt 27,000ft
6. Lake Frome South

9. Arrival back in Parafield airspace, P3 Orions at RAAF Edinburgh
10. What happened to minimum separation!

What a great way to spend the day.

I've tracked over the Gammon Ranges and Lake Frome on a flight from Leigh
Creek to Broken Hill cruising at around 6000'. You certainly need to
have your sun glasses on across the salt pans and it is hard to get a sense
of altitude.

Imagine it would have been pretty warm out there of late!

I was lucky Gary, it was a pleasant 27°C but the wind was howling.
When they come in to land you see the airspeed just hovering over
the stall speed and start to panic, but when you're down you realise
just what the wind adds to the safety margin.

The Gammons look so beautiful and rugged in the early morning light.
One day we, as a family, will get up there to explore them I hope.

I can see my old play ground, ARDU & 10 SQN.

I loved A21-32 & A21-101 the ARDU test F18's. Many an hour spent on that tarmac/hanger with my maintenance crews.

I was SNCOIC ARDU AM2 maintenance, F18 & Rotary wing Acft for a few years. Yes the Airforce had a rotary wing section! To the great disbelief of even those in the Airforce. Great place.

I saw this beast in the course of my work today.
I've never seen one of these ACFs up close, wow they are
a beautiful piece of gear.

Seems like my work hasn't sent me on any adventures for a few years.
Or I just haven't remembered to put them up.

Early this week I had to do some fibre work over on the other side of the
gulf.
The ferry trip across was smooth but the trip back was a little fun!
