My Favourite Open cluster

Maybe I'm easily pleased, but I absolutely love looking at the Herschel cluster (NGC 3532), especially under a dark sky. It simply amazes me how many stars you can see.

Quick capture on Jan 17th using 450D & ED80.
20x30sec stack @ ISO800 with single dark.
Stacked with DSS and tweaked in PS cs3.

Thanks for looking.
Jeff

It is a pretty cluster but I fear you will cop some flack for the dif spikes on a refractor image.

Well captured.

Jeff, that is the best image I have seen of 3532. It shows the dark arrow in it well. The cluster was discovered by Lacaille in Jan 1752. He described it as a "Prodigal cluster of small stars, very compressed, filling the figure of a semi-circle of 20 to 25 arc min in diameter."
