Cheap telescope cover

Saw these today in my local KMart. They are a fully weatherproof material with spring loaded fibreglass poles that are designed for 4 & 6 burner BBqs. The one in the pic is the 4 burner. When I saw them I thought these could be a usefuland cheap in the field telescope cover. They fold sort of like the beach tents and into a flat carry bag (you can just see them at right). The 4 burner which would easily cover an 8 or 10inch dob is $19.95 and the 6 burner should cover a 12inch dob at $24.95.
Maybe even a quick emergency cover for all sorts of scopes and equipment. Anyway worth a look next time you are in the barbie section of KMart.

I keep my 8" Newt on EQ5 in the house but cover it from any dust using a plastic chair cover, also purchased very cheaply from K-Mart...has elastic around the bottom for a neat fit. I just take it off and carry it outside and viola!

I use a $30 Motorcycle cover for the EQ5 and 150 newt. Have a 4 burner BBQ one from Aldi which cost about $20, presently covering a router table, but shortly to become the one for the EQ and the other goes on the 10" Dob.
Lots of good cheap covers out there if you keep the eyes open when shopping.

1 just use a 2mx2m piece of black material that I picked up at Spotlight for a few dollars and drape it over my scope.
