Does colour of my flats matter?

Pretty sure I've read before that most stacking programs reduce flats down to a greyscale master, so even colouration doesn't matter. My lightbox is lit by a series of small 12v bulbs, so always end up with an orange hue as attached.

(Lightbox Version 1 using LEDs didn't work so well - an Engineer friend once told me its never good when you let the smoke get out of electronic components..... )

Hi Rob, can't offer any advice re the colour of darks, but your quote there
reminded me of the Smoke Theory your engineer friend is probably
on about.

Sounds like the Engineer I knew was familiar with that research!

I suspected coloured flats may change the color balance so I converted them into BW..... which may have been not necessary to do.h
