Which Mount??

I have a GSO 8" Dob (from Andrews Comm) and i wanna get a EQ mount for the scope so i can start dabbling in astrophotography. I was thinking maybe a EQ5 Mount with dual Axis drive would do the job but I always value the opinion of all of you, cause some of you really know your stuff and lots more experience than myself. I know that the mount will have to have those mounting rings, for the scope to sit in...if yas know what i mean.
Also, what would be a good digicamera to start with. I would like to get one of those premodded Canon 300Ds but lack of $$$ will limit me...

Hi there,

I think the common thought is that the 8" would require at least an HEQ5, or preferably an EQ6. I have the 10" and intend to get an EQ6 down the track.

I have heard opinions that a 10 inch f5 on an eq6 is still seriously undermounted.

have a look at asimov's mount that he made for his 12.5". he is going to sell b4 he goes to america.

his now has tracking and from the 30 odd seconds of video of mars i have seen, it tracks beautifully at around 200X. From memory $750 was around the mark he was wanting???.

The C9.25 SGT come with the CG5 that same as the EQ5 mount and according to what you have said, will you recommend to use the C9.25 OTA with EQ6 or not to buy that at all and pick something else?
