It would be interesting to see George compared with a few other presidents.

And without wanting to start an argument and not saying who is right or wrong I can't understand why Obama has nothing to say on the current middle east situation. Given the US is paramount in middle eastern affairs what are the man's views and what will he do next month?

On internal policy a president elect can make statements, but on external policy there is only one US president and he alone must make statements for the USA.
Until Obama takes office there is very little he can say.

Thanks Ron, I didnt know that, I guess the rule makes sense. Still and all I reckon behind the scenes he must be saying something and I would love to be a fly on the wall

Cheers

The way this conflict is going ,and it seems like it may still be going by the time of his swearing in, then he can speak.

Scary thing is I saw Bush senior was talking about the younger son "Jeb" being president one day ... like we haven't had enough of that family yet!

He almost certainly won't know what his policy is yet - until it's handed to him in the coming weeks.

It would be extremely naive to think Obama - or any President - pulls their own strings. When they tell 'everyone else' to get lost as you suggest, they are simply passing the message on, - it is not their own thought.

In the same way that BHP etc will tell our Mr Rudd what his energy policy will be for the coming year. The same way that Packer and Murdoch will manipulate the press to their own advantage. Get it?

Cheers
