Got my new lx90

Hey crew. Havent had the net for a few months. Anyway sold my dob and upgraded to an lx90-lnt. Very nice scope. Well made and the optics are fantastic. Some probs with aligning but all of them have been due to the user being an idiot {thats me}
Getting into some photagraphy with my digital camera.
Has anyone used the digi-t adapter that was advertised in as&t.
I called and they quoted $150.
Do they work well {they better for that cash}
Anyway just thought id touch base again after being away for awhile. Ill hassle you all with my first pics soon

Josh, if you haven't read the manual front to back yet, here's a hint. Do your mount training. Towards the back of the manual in a sidebar are the instructions for training your drives. Without that your accuracy will be all over the place.

Congrats Josh. Pardon my stupidity here, but is a LX90 an SCT, & does the '90' mean 90mm dia??? (it can't be! surely?)

Josh depending on what type of camera you have, adapters vary in price. If you have a DSLR then $150 is way too much to pay for an adapter. Good to see another Go-Toer amongst the dobber hoards. BTW Asimov the LX90 is an Meade 8 inch SCT similar to the Lx200.

It must have been a pretty poor dob if an sct is considered an upgrade

My LX90 has *superlative* optics. I suspect that this is an upgrade on the averge GSO dob, but your mileage may vary.

And as a former inhabitant of the Meade yahoo groups, it cannot be overemphasised that the drives need training and calibration. Its all in the manual.

The Meade LX90 has a Schmidt Cassegrain optical configuration, with a spherical primary mirror and front corrector plate supporting the secondary mirror. I am not sure why Meade designated them as LX90's, as they are traditionally 200mm aperature telescopes. I understand that Meade may be expanding the line so that we will have 250mm LX90 etc

The LX200's are/were the top of the line. According to the Meade cataldog, the LX10/LX50/LX90's are all built with 'cheaper' bits. eg; gears = aluminium not bronze, DEC bearings = nylon bushes, lighter forks, Electronics, etc etc. Depends on the model you buy as to what/where they save costs.
The optics, AFAIK, are all the same tho.
